EL MOCAMBO RECORDS

El Mocambo Records was launched by Michael Wekerle during Canadian Music Week 2017. The label was
conceived to complement a renovated and revitalized El Mocambo, the legendary Toronto music venue that now
features an in-house recording studio.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

El Mo Records will follow a similar strategy to the one that made the El Mocambo Canada’s most iconic live music venue: develop new and emerging talent while continuing to support global touring acts and legacy artists.Much like the programming of the club, the label will focus on creative signings that emphasize great music, regardless of genre.

Andy Curran, head of A&R for El Mo Records, says, “In keeping with the history of the venue and its legacy, our goal will be to do what the El Mo always did: support great music of all styles. I’m excited that Michael has the passion and vision to create a new label in 2017 — a pretty gutsy move.”

El Mocambo Records is a full-service record label led by a team with decades of experience and an intense
passion for music. Label releases are distributed in Canada by Universal Music Group.
